This film is a hell of a film, I’m only halfway through and at this point I’m not sure if the point of the movie is to exploit women or to show how exploiting women is bad.
But for whatever it is, it’s a strong impactful work that overwhelms me with its sheer force. I guess by the end of this I’ll have a better understanding but I’m not sure if I want to, there’s something intoxicating in just being surrounded by it.
Update;
Ok, this went straight to damn hell. Feels like a morality play, little like Straw Dogs. This can only end in death.
Update 2;
Its finished, I’m really not sure how I feel about this film. I might have to leave it for a few years to ruminate. As it stands I possibly think its a condemnation on the way women are objectified and a triumph in showing the success however limited in trying to break that system. But I frankly am not sure of the cardinal directions of the compass over this, let alone the message that this film strongly conveys.
Someone far wiser than I said making an anti-war film is impossible because in portraying war you inevitably glorify it to some degree, I’m feeling the same sort of thing about this film.
